Greenway Junior School Case Study

Project Overview 

Horsham Greenway Junior School, home to over 300 pupils, has experienced continued growth that has placed increasing pressure on its existing facilities. To accommodate rising student numbers, the school installed four prefabricated classrooms adjacent to the main building.

Due to their separation from the main site, these classrooms suffered from unreliable network connectivity, with frequent signal dropouts impacting teaching and learning. Following a detailed site visit, Simply AVS designed and implemented a robust networking solution to deliver fast, reliable connectivity to each of the four prefabricated classrooms.

Project Scope & Solution 

During the initial site survey, Simply AVS evaluated several potential approaches to improve network stability across the prefabricated classrooms. After consultation with the school, a practical and cost-effective solution was agreed.

New network cabling was installed from the main building to a dedicated network switch located within the prefabricated unit. From this switch, additional cabling was routed through the ceiling space to individual network ports positioned at each teacher’s desk. This approach ensured a stable, high-performance wired connection in every classroom while remaining mindful of the school’s budget.

Project Challenges 

The project presented several logistical and environmental challenges. Network cabling needed to be routed over existing school buildings, across the school field, and into the prefabricated classrooms. To address this, Simply AVS ensured that all external cabling was fully weatherproof and suitable for underground installation.

Budget constraints were also a key consideration, as the prefabricated classrooms are scheduled for demolition within the next few years to make way for a permanent new building. The solution therefore needed to balance performance, durability, and cost efficiency.
